A RAFT OF 4,929

OTTERINK

The delta ran black and stayed black. 4,929 otters went under it, took each other's hands, and have not let go since.

01 / THE LEDGER

Four entries, in the order they were written.

The raft kept records the whole way down. These are the only four pages the ink did not take.

I

ENTRY 0001 - RECORDED FROM THE LOW WALL

THE INK TIDE

The delta ran black one spring and never ran clear again. Everything with lungs left the water inside a week. The river otters stayed, because otters are the only animal in that valley that would rather be wet than safe.

II

ENTRY 0002 - 4929 HANDS, NONE LET GO

THE RAFT

Otters sleep holding hands so the current cannot separate them, and a group of them doing it is called a raft. When the ink came, 4,929 of them took hold and went under together. The raft is why there is still a count at all.

III

ENTRY 0003 - ON THE MATTER OF THE STONES

THE POUCH

Every otter keeps one favourite stone in a pouch of loose skin under the foreleg. It uses it to break shells and it keeps the same one for life. Under the ink the stones went cold, and then they stopped being stones.

IV

ENTRY 0004 - FIRST MEASURE OF $OTTER

THE DREDGE

Whatever the stones turned into down there, it can be brought back up, and the bottom does not run dry quickly. That is where $OTTER comes from. Nobody in the raft has said out loud what happens to an otter that runs out of stone to give.

02 / THE RITE

Three oaths, then your name.

No wallet connection. No signature. Three acts on X, one address, and the raft keeps the rest.

03 / THE FIELD GUIDE

How to tell one otter from another.

Five marking layers, 57 traits, weights fixed before the first warden was drawn. Build a warden on the right and its odds resolve on the left.

No catalogued warden matches this exactly — which is true of nearly all of them. Only six of the 4,929 are on the shelf.

One warden in 6.83% of draws carries at least one Legendary marking — roughly 337 of the 4,929.

TIDE

10/10

the stretch of water it surfaced from

PELT

1/1

one pelt, every warden — an otter carries a million hairs to the square inch, the densest coat of any animal

GARB

15/15

what the raft dressed it in afterwards

CREST

15/15

whatever it came back up wearing

TRINKET

16/16

carried, worn or scarred on — two in five carry nothing

These are the sampling weights, not a count taken afterwards — the collection is drawn against exactly these numbers. A trait at 2.00% lands on about 986 wardens.

04 / THE RAFT

Otters hold hands in their sleep.

They do it so the current cannot take them apart, and a group of them holding on is called a raft. That is not lore — it is what otters do. This one is real and it is counted below. Take a hand and the number goes up by you.

HANDS HELD

0

One hand per person per day. No wallet, no signature, nothing to sign — the raft is the only thing on this site that costs you nothing and still counts.

4,929 otters went under the ink. The raft above is drawn from the six we have catalogued; the rest are still down there.

06 / THE TIDES

A queue, not a calendar.

Each tide lands when the one before it finishes. There are no dates here on purpose — a dated roadmap is a promise, and the raft has broken enough of those.

  1. I

    DRAW

    SEALED

4,929 wardens drawn against the published table. Art finished, weights frozen, metadata written.

  2. II

    RITE

    RUNNING

The ledger is open. Names go in by hand and are checked against X by hand. It closes when it closes.

  3. III

    LANDING

    QUEUED

Mint opens on OpenSea. 0.0003 ETH on Ink Chain. Allowlist is drawn from the ledger first.

  4. IV

    DREDGE

    BUILDING

The pouches open. $OTTER begins accruing against committed wardens.

  5. V

    HAUL

    QUEUED

$OTTER becomes redeemable against the board. $KRKN staking opens alongside it.

07 / THE DREDGE

The drowned are not idle.

An otter that cannot drown can still be spent. The dredge is where that happens, and it is the only place the raft turns fiction back into something you can hold.

NOT YET LITMechanics are being built. Nothing below is live, and no numbers are fixed yet.
  1. 01

    OPEN THE POUCH

A warden is committed to the dredge. It never leaves your wallet — the dredge reads the stone, it does not take the otter.

  2. 02

    WORK THE SILT

$OTTER accrues against the warden for as long as it keeps working the bottom. Rarer markings pull up more.

  3. 03

    HAUL IT UP

$OTTER leaves the fiction — traded out for ETH, or for hardware. The board opens when the dredge does.

THE PRIZE BOARD

$OTTER is meant to leave the fiction. The board opens with ETH and with hardware — GPUs among them — and every exchange rate will be published in full before a single unit is burnable. We are not going to post a rate we might have to walk back.
